Sub-Saharan Africa is in Crisis. Living standards and per capita income are falling throughout the region. Sub-Saharan Africa is plagued by civil war and inter-tribal fighting and preventable diseases spread throughout the region almost unchecked.
The crucial step to solving many of these problems is ensuring that all its people have access to, and receive a good education, because it is through education that problems are more easily identified and resolved. However, the educational system in Sub-Saharan Africa is also in a state of crisis. Most Sub-Saharan African countries have inadequate access to basic education, such as primary school, for a large percentage of their populations. For those who are fortunate enough to have access to education, the educational systems available to them are severely lacking. There are not enough well-trained teachers, not enough schools, not enough textbooks, not enough school supplies; and the list goes on.
It is not for a lack of desire that the educational systems in Sub-Saharan Africa are unable to meet the needs of its peoples. The governments of most Sub-Saharan African states cannot afford to fund and support educational programs that will reach the many rural communities, where conditions will continue to deteriorate if the people do not have access to basic schooling and remain uneducated.
FACTS:
- 50% of women and 30% of men in Sub-Saharan Africa are illiterate. For example, in Niger, Burkina Faso, and Guinea, less than 36% of the population are literate. (Geography IQ).
- The Higher Education enrollment in sub-Saharan Africa is under 15%. (Symposium of the African Technology for Education and Workforce Development Initiative, 6/18/02).
- 42 million school-aged children in Sub-Saharan Africa are not enrolled in school, 60% of whom are girls.
- Rural communities in Sub-Saharan Africa bear the brunt of the lack of education. Without proper education, they do not have the skills necessary to get better jobs, get business loans, etc. Without proper education, they cannot improve their standard of living and become further marginalized and voiceless.

The Endeavor for Hope Foundation’s mission is to develop support and promote access to education in rural communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Per capita annual income in Sub-Saharan Africa is less than $600, thus every dollar raised by The Endeavor for Hope Foundation will go a long way to promote education. By using your charitable donations and contributions, The Endeavor for Hope Foundation will achieve its mission by building schools, training teachers, providing necessary school supplies, providing equipment and textbooks, funding educational programs and generally supporting access to education for rural communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Endeavor for Hope Foundation believes that it is through education that the peoples of Sub-Saharan Africa will be able to realize a need for change and have the means by which they can transform their lives and improve the dire situation in which most live. The Endeavor for Hope Foundation believes that education is the stepping stone to empowerment and self-improvement and that Sub-Saharan Africa deserves and needs, “A Hand Up, and Not a Hand-Out.”

The Endeavor for Hope Foundation takes a unique approach to the charitable funding of education in Sub-Saharan Africa by developing individual projects, village by village, to meet specific needs that allow each community to access its natural strengths and confront its specific problems. Before beginning any project, The Endeavor for Hope Foundation will send a team to the targeted community to determine the exact educational needs and available resources. It is through the gathering of this inside information that The Endeavor for Hope Foundation hopes to facilitate the important and necessary changes and improvements to the lives of the peoples of Sub-Saharan Africa.
It is the goal of The Endeavor for Hope Foundation to empower the people in rural Sub-Saharan African communities to better themselves and conquer their problems through education.
